Note: Ecogrid has a load baring capacity ranging from 120 – 350 tonne per sqm. This is in excess of most uses including that of significant vehicle traffic. It should, however, be noted that the preparation of the sub base below the Ecogrid should be equivalent to that of any concrete paver and depending upon application and loading and subject to local ground conditions.
Installation: Option 1 A typical, properly installed Ecogrid System for
roadways/traffic areas/car parking:
(1) Remove turf and top soil or other debris until a stable, well-draining sub-surface is exposed.
(2) Grade sub-surface smooth (with a slight slope away from the area if possible, although this is not required).
(3) Place a minimum of 50mm, (variable as note above of 15mm to 25mm crushed angular rock in the area. Spread evenly, then roll the area with a landscape drum roller or vibrating plate tamper.
(4) Level sub base by raking over with 10mm angular gravel, then roll the area again with a landscape drum roller or vibrating plate tamper until sub base is at an acceptable level.
(5) Once level, install geo textile weed suppression, (OPTIONAL). Starting at one end or side, place Ecogrid product in place and interlock them by lining them up and gently stepping on them to lock them together.
(6) Fill Ecogrid with 10-12mm clean or washed gravel of choice or top
soil, and lightly compact using the
landscape drum roller or plate tamper. NOTE: do not over-compact to preserve
the native drainage of the earth.
Installation: Option 2 A typical, properly installed Ecogrid System for lightly trafficked footpath/paved area/shed base/ greenhouse base:
(1) Remove turf and top soil or other debris until a stable, well-draining sub-surface is exposed.
(2) Grade sub-surface smooth (with a slight slope away from the area if possible, although this is not required).
(3) Place 50mm, of 15mm to 25mm crushed angular rock in the area. Spread evenly, then roll the area with a landscape drum roller or vibrating plate tamper.
(4) Level sub base by raking over with 10mm angular gravel, then roll the area again with a landscape drum roller or vibrating plate tamper until sub base is at an acceptable level.

(6) Fill Ecogrid with 10-12mm clean or washed gravel of choice, and lightly
compact using the
landscape drum roller or plate tamper. NOTE: do not over-compact to preserve
the native drainage of the earth.
Installation: Option 3 A typical, properly installed Ecogrid System for
/shed base/ greenhouse base:
(1) Remove turf and top soil or other debris until a stable, well-draining sub-surface is exposed.
(2) Grade sub-surface smooth (with a slight slope away from the area if possible, although this is not required).
(3) Level sub base by raking over with 10mm angular gravel, then roll the area again with a landscape drum roller or vibrating plate tamper until sub base is at an acceptable level.
